Analysis of the patterns of trophic activity phyllostomid bats (Phyllostomidae) in an area of old growth in the central rainforest of Chocó

Knowledge of the patterns of activity, is relevant because these abiotic factors have a major influence on the feeding, breeding and selection of shelters several species of bats, who believe that this represents an important dimension of the ecological niche. To achieve the analysis to determine patterns of trophic activity phyllostomid bats (Phyllostomidae) in an area of old growth in the central rainforest of Chocó, extensive sampling (06:00-18:00) was performed. For methodological purposes quantitative records were taken at intervals of 15 minutes. Sampling was executed in the central old growth rainforest (Pacurita, Quibdo-Chocó). With an effort of 38,088 hours.meters.net and capture success of individuals 0,009 hours.meters. net. The phyllostomid bats were represented by 357 individuals, distributed in 29 species and 6 trophic guilds. The most representative in their abundance guilds were collectors canopy frugivo- res (Fr-emd-a), followed by collector’s understory frugivores (Fr-emd-b) and nectarivores collectors (Nr-emd) which represent 98% of all catches.
