Abstract

The principal objective of this study was to develop a taxonomic list of mammals’ marsh Montaño, including ecology, data richness, abundance and conservation status of species. By the method of direct or indirect observation field in which is the search and identification of fingerprints and other traces and identifying vocalizations and any other evidence of the presence of a mammal. The footprints were identified using the experience of the hunters in the area, subsequently corroborated by means of guides. As a result, which left a total of 13 species belonging to 11 families, 6 orders and 32 individuals. Of the total species recorded, 5 mammals are under some level of risk in a vulnerable state as Allouata palliata, Aotus lemurinus, Pantera onca, Lontra longicaudis and Trichechus manatus. However, manatee (T. manatus) is perhaps the best representative of this ecosystem, today manatee species is facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild which has been nationally vulnerability, which give it greater relevance to this area as a priority area for conservation of this species of mammals and their habitats.
