One factor that has influenced the identity of the Embera Do- bida ethnic group is the loss of ancestral cultural practices, which are part of its ethnic legacy. There are still some “rites of passage” associated with women, who through the times according to implicit and explicit traditional precepts relegated to the “domestic” to the “private”, which has conditioned so that some customs persist, and they are carriers of that cultural legacy. It is therefore the record of customs that over time tend to disappear, due to the constant and permanent interaction with other cultures of men and some women and the lack of appreciation of these practices by the same community.
