Abstract

The black communities of the Pacific Caucano are widely known for the development of productive practices that sustain the economy of the municipalities at the same time as expressions of identity. These practices extend to the mangrove from the use of resoures such as crustaceans and mollusks that, in the case of the Quiroga community, belonging to the Río Guajuí Community Council, is part of the wealth that permean or sustain the lifestyles of the residents. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with the “concheras” or collectors of the mangrove swamp of the Quiroga community, as the main instrument for the collection of information, likewise, social mapping was used as part of the recognition of the spaces of use and the territory, and the photographic record was prioritized in each stage of the investigation process. In that order of ideas, the capture of the “piangua”, the clam, the “sangara”, the shrimp and the crab not only imply or guarantees the sustainability of the families, but also allows the affirmation of traditional knowledge that has been inherited from generation to generation, in generation and survived over time while strengthening identity expressions.
